I believe that everyone needs to think about things at some point, so every 1-2 weeks I will post a 'Food for Thought' thread. In these threads, I will give you guys something to think and discuss about with your fellow members.
Food for Thought #1:
Whenever a movie hits big at the box office or makes great DVD sales, a sequel to that movie will usually follow. Unfortunately, when a sequel does come out, people will often find that it is either much worse than the original movie or just extremely unnecessary. Obviously, there are some notable exceptions, like Shrek 2 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but these "good" sequels are very few in number (in comparison to "bad" sequels).
Why do these movies turn out so badly? Is it because the producers depend too much on the success of the previous movie? Is it because the first movie resolved the majority of the 'interesting' conflicts? Was there not enough time or money to make a good one? What possibilities can you guys think of?
Discuss.

Don't tell me what to do!
I think it's because most sequals don't consist of the same makers who wrote/directed/acted in the original movie.
All of the Disney sequals are crap anyways. >: /
