Scarlett tried to ignore the sneaking suspicion that she was going to have to go and get groceries and such. Afterall, its not like she cooked at home often. This was a one time thing, he was not coming here again. She led him to a block of average looking apartments, or as average as you could get in the Diente area. She opened the foyer door with a key and led him up to apartment number 14.
She unlocked the door and led him inside before taking off her jacket and putting it in her bathroom for now. Not that it mattered, but she hadn't wasted paint on the cream walls so they remained that shade. The carpet was still slate grey and torn up on places. She had a funny looking lava lamp with black lava and red water. Overall the apartment was pretty ordinary, but was clean. She hated cluttered and dirty apartments.
"Make yourself at home, I'm going in to have a shower and such." She said before going into the bathroom and locking the door, it was like an instinct to lock all her doors and windows. Scar had a shower and washed off the caked blood, both her own and others. But her hair was also in need of a wash, so all of her was wet when she came out.
She then bandaged up her arm and came out into the living room where she'd left her new partner. She had on a fresh set of clothing and she frowned slightly as she towel dried her hair as best she could. Scarlett looked at him once before clearing her throat. "You hungry? I have a bar of chocolate and some water in the fridge I think....maybe i'll do shopping later." She asked before waiting for an answer from the blue haired young man.

Kai gave a small smile. For a tough person, she was a somewhat decent host. “No thank you, I’m not all that hunger,” he answered. It didn’t feel right going into your partner’s home and eating everything. It wasn’t until now that he noticed that he was tired. He had been quiet active lately. He then sat down on the couch. He felt a bid bad still for not telling his partner anything about him. So he figured this mine aswell be the time to answer any questions on her mind.
“Well, I’ve been asking you a lot of questions. It’s my turn to return the favor. This is one of the few times where I will answer any of your questions. So please ask.” He said looking blankly at the floor. Yep, it sucks to be blind sometimes. He then placed his hands on his lap and closed his eyes. It was mostly to rest his heavy eyelids.
“Don’t be alarmed. I’m not going to sleep. I can function well whether my eyes were closes or opened.” He said to ensure his new partner wouldn’t get upset. This apartment, to him, seemed pretty decent. Then again, It wasn’t his kind of place to stay. Kai slept outside on a small cliff looking at the beach. He always loved the view, pulse wise, there even when others detested how cold it was or how uncomfortable the ground felt. Even though Kai couldn’t see the stars, the sand, the waves, or even the moon. He was able to sense things around him. Especially the waves, they seemed beautiful if you could see them the way Kai could.
That’s one perk to having the ability Kai had, one could see the beauty behind the naked eye. “It’s a pretty decent place you have here.”

“No thank you, I’m not all that hungry,” He said and Scar made a small noise in her throat before she took one more sip of her water from the nightclub. "Hmm, what a pity...it would have given me a chance to go grocery shopping. And despite what you may think I don't regularly poison my guests." She mused aloud before she accidently leaned against part of a wall, the bandaged up arm pressing flush against the wall.
She hissed as she sucked in air, growling softly because she had forgotten about getting injured. “Well, I’ve been asking you a lot of questions. It’s my turn to return the favor. This is one of the few times where I will answer any of your questions. So please ask.” He said while staring at the floor. She shrugged one shoulder and looked him over again. "I think it is safe to say that you don't like people very much. But there is one thing that makes me curious, how you knew so much about Verada. You grew up here, didn't you? Did you know a boy called Mich-... on second thought ignore that question." She cursed herself sliently for her slip of the tongue.
“Don’t be alarmed. I’m not going to sleep. I can function well whether my eyes were closes or opened.” He said and Scarlett made a small sound of a musement mixed with slight anger at his assumption that she couldn't tell the difference. "I apologise before I say this to you, but I do know the difference between when people are sleeping or not." She said bluntly and the doorbell rang, startling her slightly. She went to the front door and looked through the peep hole. Scarlett opened the door a fraction and stared into the burgundy eyes of her next door neighbor Kelly.
"Word is that there's a guy in there. Finally got another boyfriend after that Lucas boy?" Kelly said in a curious voice and Scarlett glared at her before Kelly realised her mistake. "Kelly...." Scar started to talk and was surprised by Kelly bursting into tears. "I can't believe that he tried to do that to you! What a bastard!" Kelly sobbed and Scarlett sighed heavily before letting her friend in. Kelly stopped short upon seeing Kai's blue hair and Scar laughed softly.
"Yes, Kells his hair is actually blue. Now did you come over to talk about anything else?" Then Scarlett spotted the groceries on the floor just outside her door. "Oh Kelly you shouldn't have!" Scarlett said beforeKelly began taking the plastic bags through to the kitchen. "It's fine, besides...you need to start eating properly Scar. Your mother wouldn't be impressed with your diet." Kelly teased and then left the apartment.
“It’s a pretty decent place you have here.” He said and she smiled softly before wiping it off of her face. "Thanks, they have apartments that aren't being rented above this floor at the moment. Speaking of which...where do you sleep?" She asked before packing the food away. Kelly was right, she really did have to start taking better care of herself.

Kai smiled at Scarlett’s response. “One could say I’m not a people persons. But, then again your not either are you?” He then frowned at her stopping her question. That was somewhat out of character of Scarlett to stop something mid way. He figured it must be something-quiet sensitive. “No please ask you question. That is correct, I was born here. I know many things about this place that would make heads spin.” He answered.
Kai gave a small chuckle. “No many know if I’m sleeping or not. I tend to be a silent sleeper. Kai was somewhat relieved that his new partner was honest. He hated it when people do lies just to make you feel better. It just didn’t feel right to him to lie on such topics. “Kelly…” muttered Kai in a soft low tone. He then opened his blind eyes and said “Greetings, nice to meet you Kelly.” What bothered him more was Scarlett’s former boyfriend. Did he do something so bad that it was remembered to this day. Or was Kelly just an over emotional person.
“What is this about Lucas?” he asked with some curiosity. Lucas… Why does that name sound familiar to Kai? In any event, he needed more information to see if these two Lucas’s were the same. “So Kelly, are you related to Scarlet in any way?” He had a feeling this was in Scarlett’s file. But, the only problem with files is that Kai couldn’t read them. Of course he never wanted to admit this to anyone. He didn’t know if Kelly was one of the Serpente or just a civilian. In any event, he wanted to know if she was a human also. It would be an interesting story to tell later, how his partner technically lived with a human.
“Forgive me, my name is Kai Shi. Nice to meet you. And to add to it, yes I’m fully aware of my blue hair,” joked Kai. People always thought it weird that he had blue hair. But he didn’t really mind, He liked the color blue, even though he barely remembered what blue looked like. Another problem besides reading is that he couldn’t perceive color.

“One could say I’m not a people persons. But, then again your not either are you?” He smiled at what she had said and then frowned at the fact she had stopped asking her question. “No please ask you question. That is correct, I was born here. I know many things about this place that would make heads spin.” Kai replied and she smiled ruefully at him before sighing. "I was going to ask if you knew a boy called Michael Lucas, but it doesn't matter." She said and then she heard a clap of thunder and looked out the window opposite the sofa.
There were dark purple clouds that had gathered after they had gone inside. “No many know if I’m sleeping or not. I tend to be a silent sleeper." Kai said with a chuckle and she laughed a little. "Hmm, I tend not to sleep at all." She said truthfully and laughed about the fact that she was an insomniac. “Kelly…Greetings, nice to meet you Kelly.” He said and Scar looked over at him and Kelly came back into the apartment as he talked to her.
"Hey, nice to meet you." Kelly said with a smile and Scarlett giggled softly. “What is this about Lucas?” Kai asked and Scarlett's giggles halted immediately. "He was my previous boyfriend, he died." Scarlett said and Kelly seemed to be staring at the scar just above Scarlett's voicebox. "You did it in self defense..." Kelly started and Scarlet shrugged.
“So Kelly, are you related to Scarlet in any way?” Kai asked and Kelly laughed a little. "No, she saved me from a spot of trouble at the place we work at. Customers were getting a bit too touchy-feely." Kelly said and Scarlett snorted in supressed laughter. "Don't let personalities fool you, Kells can give you a crippling headache if she wants to." Scarlett said and Kelly looked at her for a moment.
“Forgive me, my name is Kai Shi. Nice to meet you. And to add to it, yes I’m fully aware of my blue hair,” Kai joked and Kelly giggled as Scarlett tousled Kelly's short mint green hair. "Interesting, having hair and eyes that are Scarlett's favourite col-..." Kelly was then silenced by Scar's hand clamping over her mouth. "So the electricity is out in your apartment huh Kells? what do you want to eat?" Scarlett asked and released her hold on Kelly's mouth. "Pasta, pasta, pasta!" Kelly chanted and Scarlett sighed. "I'll see what I can do..." Scar said with a tiny smile and Kelly grinned widely.
"Sorry to break it to you both but seeing as the storm is going to be pretty bad...you're gonna be staying here tonight." Scarlett added as she went into the kitchen and began looking around her pantry for pasta and ingredients for the sauce.

”Boyfriend? Self-defense?” The story sounded all so familiar. “I suppose you murdered your boyfriend correct?” asked Kai first pretending to look at Scarlett and then at Kelly. He kind of had a feeling he knew the answers already, but he didn’t want to just assume it and find out later that it was a mistake. It made him remember his past relationship with his girlfriend.
“Storm huh?” said Kai slowly. He didn’t really like storms all that much. The loud noises caused by storms usually drove him crazy. But, He did like the rain in a sense that it allowed him to see well. Well in any case, Kai figured now is the best time to get to know more about his partner in privacy. “I too had a, misfortunate event like that some time ago. I have to say you are quiet lucky.” Kai didn’t want to come out cold or anything. It was the truth and Kai nothing would change his mind about it.
(Sorry it's short I got low muse)

Scarlett found a jar of tomato paste and a can of diced tomatoes, she was getting out a cooking pot when she heard Kai's comment. “I suppose you murdered your boyfriend correct?” He asked and the pot clattered to the floor loudly as Scar let go of it in shock. "How dare you! he held a knife to her throat first!" Kelly snarled and Scarlett ran a shaking hand through her long red hair. "Kelly, it's alright...really, Michael's death was an accident. I stabbed him in his appendix anyway, an organ that he didn't need. But the other person in the same location as us moved him and he bled out." Scarlett said in a shaky voice and Kelly scowled darkly at the blue haired young man. Kelly came into the kitchen and Scarlett sat down on the lino floor. Kelly helped her up and took her out into the living room. Scarlett sat down in an arm chair and turned her head away from Kai, he was in her bad books at the moment. After all, he brought up the incident... “Storm huh?” He asked slowly and Kelly said that she would cook. "Yes, a storm and it doesn't look to pleasant either." Scarlett spat out venomously and narrowed her eyes at him, anger came from her in tidal waves before she turned her head away from him. “I too had a, misfortunate event like that some time ago. I have to say you are quiet lucky.” He said and she laughed softly. "I'm sorry that I am not exactly forthcoming with comfort for the man who just accused me of murder." She stated icily and a movement outside her window distracted her for a moment. A small cat was sitting on her windowsill, trying to escape the rain. Scarlett opened the window slightly and took the cat inside. It looked around in alarm and Scar cooed to it softly, the small cat reminded her of Angel. She found a towel and dried the cat's fur before giggling softly. "Aww! You are so adorable, you're purring!" Scarlett said in a caring tone and patted the little cat's head.

“It doesn’t change the fact that he is dead,” said Kai. It was odd something like that happened to him a long time ago. Being betrayed by another one that he used to love. He then heard a loud rumble from the thunders outside. Kai could tell that Kelly didn’t like him already. “You asked if I knew Michael correct? Well, I would have to be honest with you. Yes, I do know him. My last girlfriend cheated on me along time ago. Who did she cheat with you may wonder. Well, I believe you can fill in who he was there. If what Scarlett was true, she was his chain reaction that started it all. Kai then smiled at Scarlett. The more he thought about it the more it made sense. Everything his girlfriend said right before he was blinded, right before his family was killed it all started with Scarlett. But, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to tell her or not. It’s not everyday you get to meet the person who indirectly caused you to go blind.
Scarlett accidentally killed Michael. Kai’s Girlfriend who was most likely with Michael at the time of his death sought vengeance on the Ryougans. Who better to pull it off then on an easy target at the time then the pacifistic Kai? “She must of freaked out when she found Micheal dead didn’t she,” he said forgetting that Scarlett didn’t mention that the other person was a she.
He the noticed the cat. How he didn’t like animals in general. But, he couldn’t complain it wasn’t his place. But, it was unusual for Scarlett to act so… out of character. “Adorable?” asked Kai in a puzzled sound. He hadn’t seen what a cat looked like in a long time. All he knew about cats, is that they were four legged felines that had to sanity to land on their feet rather then just freaking out like humans do.

“It doesn’t change the fact that he is dead,” Kai said and Scarlett froze, in mid stroke of the cat's head. It mewled in a demanding manner and she clucked to it. "You think I don't know that? His father had a mental breakdown after he was told about Michael." Scar replied and took the cat back to her armchair, curling up with it on her lap. “You asked if I knew Michael correct? Well, I would have to be honest with you. Yes, I do know him. My last girlfriend cheated on me along time ago. Who did she cheat with you may wonder. Well, I believe you can fill in who he was there." Kai said and she looked at him slowly, her golden eyes glowing as lightening lit up the room.
"So we were both cheated on? What else is new, I believe that this is quite an interesting development...wouldn't you say?" She mused and then heard the pattering of rain outside her window. “She must of freaked out when she found Micheal dead didn’t she,” He said and Scarlett's head snapped towards him and she got up, putting the cat on the chair. She chuckled softly and made her way to stand right in front of him. Scarlett touched a lock of his blue hair gently before retracting her pale fingers from the hair. "I don't believe that I mentioned the other person's gender...how curious. Why don't you tell me what this is all about huh?" She hissed quietly and stepped back swiftly, quickly enough to get out of a person's usual attack range.
“Adorable?” He asked and she looked back at the cat fondly. "I had a cat when I was small, but she died." Scarlett said and made it obvious that the information stopped there. He would have to start giving her more information about himself if he didn't want to be playing one of her....deadly games. Kelly came out with the pasta in bowls and Scarlett smiled gratefully as she accepted the food. The cat jumped off of the armchair and looked around for a moment before deciding to sit on the arm of the sofa, right next to Kai.

Kai really didn’t want to tell her of his discovery, well not just yet. “Sometimes it’s better not to know. This is one of those times,” Kai responded. He felt a little bad for keeping a secret like this. He also had a feeling she wouldn’t like his answer either. But, he couldn’t help the fact that they were connected in a very ironic way. He then senses the cat jumping up next to him. At first he tried to take no notice to it. But, then the Kai jumped onto his lap.
He then gave a small sight before continuing their conversation. “Besides, I can’t answer it with other people in the room. It’s more of a private matter,” he continued. He had a hunch this didn’t make this “Kelly” person feel all that great. “Nothing personal,” he said Directly to Kelly.
The thunder and lighting was getting even louder by the second. The rain also got heavier as the streets below were beginning to get flooded. They were going to be stuck here for a while. Kai could already tell. “Well, Kelly, Scarlett, since you guys were so generous enough to share your personal information with me I’ll let you guys ask away at anything. With the exception to what Scarlett had asked me prior about Lucas and such.”
Kai’s eyes never blinked, but stared at the ground waiting for their response. Hopefully, Kelly wouldn’t be to harsh with her questions.

“Sometimes it’s better not to know. This is one of those times,” Kai answered and Scarlett hissed lowly. So her past was an open book and his wasn't? That was not fair...time to even out the scores. "Oh how kind of you. Spare me the evasiveness and cut to the chase. You know much more about Kelly and I than we know about you. Start talking Smurf." Scar growled fiercely before Kelly came out of the kitchen with a glass of non-alcoholic grape juice.
“Besides, I can’t answer it with other people in the room. It’s more of a private matter, nothing personal.” At that comment Kelly scoffed at him and Scarlett looked at her, knowing what the other young woman was going to ask. "You never have any booze Scar! I'm going to have to buy you some for your birthday -..." Kelly mused and Scarlett stood up suddenly, having finished her meal. "I will never have that cursed stuff in my home or my body!" Scarlett said in a chilly voice before going into her bedroom, coming out with a stick of chewing gum.
“Well, Kelly, Scarlett, since you guys were so generous enough to share your personal information with me I’ll let you guys ask away at anything. With the exception to what Scarlett had asked me prior about Lucas and such.” He said and stared blankly at the floor, Kelly looked at Scarlett and the girl had a contemplative expression on her face as she popped the pink stick of chewing gum into her mouth. "You are so full of bull dust you know that boy?" Scarlett laughed as her chewing gum bubble popped with a decisive snap.
Scarlett got right up close to him, her red hair almost touching his blue locks. The cat mewled and rasped its sandpaper tongue over Scarlett's finger as she extended the digit to the feline. It seemed to be quite content to sit on Kai's lap. But Kelly had other ideas as she pulled the sofa backwards. "Hey!" It tipped and left Scarlett sprawled on the floor, protecting the small cat. "I take it you weren't always blind, since you knew what the colour blue looks like?" Kelly asked and Scarlett rolled onto her side on the floor.
"Well what do you know, the floor is more comfortable than the sofa." Scarlett noted and one particular flash of lightening lit up the room, the cat hid its head in the crook of Scarlett's neck, she smiled softly and hummed to it softly. The cat calmed a little and went bounding off to see Kai.

Kai was silent from Scarlett’s threat. Oddly enough, Kai doesn’t do well with threats. Majority of the time when his verbal threat detector goes up he tends to zone out. Kai smiles a little at Scarlett’s non-alcoholic attitude. It was somewhat funny to hear someone say that about alcohol these days. But, Kai wasn’t one to judge. He never drank either. He always found the stuff to “improper” to have. Besides who’s going to take care of all of the drunken idiots who forgot to stop themselves while they were ahead? But, Kai had a feeling, judging by Scarlett’s attitude, that she had a bad past experience not it. Not that it directly involved her taking it, but perhaps another person?
“Bull? Hardly, I’m just being proper. It’s not good manners to be improper to little girls such as yourself,” he said as if he didn’t care what Scarlett said. He then notices Kelly approaching the chair from behind. How could he not, he pretty much notices everything that goes on in this room due to his echo pulse ability. Should he act? Or let her do as she wished. In the end Kai didn’t mind much and ignored it. What was the worst she could do. The cat wasn’t part of his calculations but Scarlett had it under control.
“Indeed, the hard solid floor can be comforting at times,” he said remembering how he use to sleep under a tree at night. Just then the Kat jumped back on to Kai’s lap. Despite Kai’s history with animals, this one wasn’t so bad. That is unless it decides to cough a furball on him or something.
He then answered Kelly’s question. “Yes, Kelly I wasn’t always blind. There was a time when I was able to see the stars, embrace the multitude of color life had to offer, but most of all to read. Being blind, it’s quite difficult to read the common books and magazines. Of course, that’s all in the past now.” Kai use to love reading. Well, before his current conditions of course. By this time, Kai had hoped she had forgotten or given up on prying the answer out of him. How he knew Scarlett’s past indirectly. But, then again Kai had a feeling Scarlett wasn’t the type to just forget.

“Bull? Hardly, I’m just being proper. It’s not good manners to be improper to little girls such as yourself,” He said and Scar began laughing on the floor. "Oh gosh, how old do you think I am old man?" She taunted before grabbing Kelly's hand from the floor and dragging her friend down to the carpet. Kelly shrieked with laughter and Scarlett started to tickle her friend when Kelly smirked and Scarlett released her. "Hey Scarlett, truth or dare?" Kelly grinned like a maniac and Scarlett sighed.
“Indeed, the hard solid floor can be comforting at times,” Kai said and Scarlett snorted in amusement. Kelly was waiting for an answer, but Scarlett sensed that Kai wasn't finished replying to the questions that they asked. “Yes, Kelly I wasn’t always blind. There was a time when I was able to see the stars, embrace the multitude of color life had to offer, but most of all to read. Being blind, it’s quite difficult to read the common books and magazines. Of course, that’s all in the past now.” He said and Scarlett smiled at the thought of Kai reading, would he have worn glasses?
She was brought back to reality by Kelly clearing her throat impatiently. "Well? Truth or dare? Oh, you want to play too Kai?" Kelly asked and Scarlett sighed softly. "Truth." Scarlett uttered that one word and Kelly went into her sulking mood. "Aww, you're no fun. Fine, where are you from?" Kelly asked and Scarlett chuckled slightly, Kelly had forgotten.
"I was originally from Rome, but my parents and I moved to Verada a few years ago. Your turn Kelly, truth or dare?" Scarlett answered mechanically and Kelly eyed her with a conspiratory gleam in her eyes. "I choose dare." Kelly answered boldly and Scarlett grinned evilly. "I dare you to stay silent for a minute. Hey Smurf, truth or dare?" Scarlett said and Kelly opened her mouth to say something before Scar looked almost triumphant. That would stop Kelly form getting her to tell everyone in the room about her past and the monsters that it contained...they were still hiding under her bed all this time.
Scarlett watched the rain fall in torrents outside the window, what would happen if the rain kept going? She would have to put up with blue boy...that's what. She pondered on how her future would turn out with such a nosy parker for a partner.

Kai took a deep sigh. He wasn’t really much of a game type of person. Heck, he couldn’t even remember the last game he played. Even though he preferred not to play it, he figured it would be rude of him not to. He was after all a guest. “Truth…” he responded in a dull done. He then got up slowly to give the cat time to jump off his lap. He had been sitting in the same spot for to long. Any longer and his legs would of probably fallen asleep. The cat then jumped back on the seat where Kai had sat and snuggled in the corner of the chair. “I suppose you other guest is quite tired no?”
Kai then walked around the room slowly to get his blood flowing again. Of course this wasn’t something he does often. This night was the exception because of the storm. This storm seemed or felt a lot harder then your average storm. Either it was paranoia or Kai’s instinct kicking in, but something was coming. The rain came down even harder now, so hard that the rain felt like pebbles crashing into the building. The flashes from the lighting began to get brighter and the thunder louder.
He stopped walking when he reached the window. He then placed his hand on the ice-cold window. Judging by how cold the window was, it was getting close to being a snowstorm if it got any colder. How did Kai know this? Being blind heightens sense of touch so he can gauge how cold or hot it is with a somewhat decent accuracy.
He then turned his head towards Scarlet and Scarlett’s direction. “It looks like this storm could get interesting,” right after he said that a lighting bold stuck a wooden pole from across the street.

“Truth…” Kai said in a bored tone and Scarlett smirked, he had just fallen into her blatantly obvious trap. "Why is it that you say we can ask about anything, but then say we aren't allowed to ask about one thing? Kind of an ironic situation huh?" Scarlett said before watching him get up and stretch his legs. “I suppose you other guest is quite tired no?” He said, referring to her new pet. She got up off of the floor and stretched lithely before taking a deep breath.
"Indeed, considering that it is almost midnight I should say the cat should be sleeping. We should also be heading to bed soon." Scarlett said before tying her hair up in a loose ponytail. Kelly gasped slightly as she noticed the change in the weather. "Scar, the only room that has a fire place is yours..." Kelly said quietly and Scarlett smiled at Kelly before turning to Kai.
“It looks like this storm could get interesting,” Kai said and the girls shared a look, then the power went out and Kelly jumped in surprise. "Just this once I'll light a fire. Since you guys sleep at night I'll watch over the fire and make sure it doesn't go out. This being said...we will all be sleeping in the same room. To conserve heat and such." Scarlett explained and grasped Kelly's wrist in one hand and the other went out to feel the air around her for Kai's shirt.
"I do not like not being able to have a light on in here." Kelly squeaked and Scarlett sighed, her eyes getting used to the darkness. "This way Kai..." She called and lead the way to her bedroom. She set Kelly on one of the two beds in the room. What? Scar had once had a roommate, not for long of course. Somehow after fifteen minutes of the temperature steadily dropping in the room Scarlett finally got a fire going in the fire place.
It was a small one, as it had originally been part of a stove before the place had been remodeled. She put up the screen thing around the fireplace and stoked the fire gently. "I'll go get the cat, no sense in letting it die by my hands." Scarlett said and opened the door before closing it behind her and coming back moments later with the cat. She placed it in an honoured place in front of the warmth of the fire. She pulled the blinds down and sat down on the floor.
